Rug pulls range from “instant” to “slow drain”. You can’t guarantee safety, but you can reduce risk by checking how a protocol operates, how funds flow, and whether incentives look survivable.
What to check first
- Team and docs: do they explain how rewards work and what risks exist?
- Token distribution: who controls emissions and liquidity?
- Smart contract transparency: audits, verified code, and changelogs.
- Governance: is it centralized or can it be controlled by insiders?
Operational red flags
If withdrawals pause frequently, if liquidity looks thin, or if “promises” replace technical details, treat it as a warning. Start small and assume you can lose everything—then decide if it’s worth it.
Rule of thumb
High returns with low transparency usually mean the risk is hidden somewhere in the mechanism.
