A seed phrase is the master key for most crypto wallets. If someone has it, they can usually restore (and drain) your wallet—often instantly. That’s why seed phrases are not “like passwords”, and they are not meant to be used online.
Never type it into random sites
Phishing pages often ask for your seed phrase to “verify” you. Treat every request as a scam until proven otherwise by your wallet’s official UI.
Store offline, and store it twice
- Write it down on paper (or use metal backups).
- Store copies in separate physical locations.
- Avoid screenshots, cloud notes, and photo storage apps.
Quick rule
If you would not hand your house key to a stranger, don’t give your seed phrase to a website—ever.
Not financial advice. Security basics only.
